Why You Shouldn't Compare Yourself to Others as a New Seller

Stand Up & Be True to You

When I first signed up to be a seller on ATW I thought, "I can sell the Shit out of Anything!" I am a natural businesswoman, already in the customer service industry!! I had confidence that whatever I put in my listings was going to be everything anyone would ever need or want.

I had boosted myself up and told myself "you got this girl! Everyone already tells you how pretty you are!" I could feel people's gazes burning straight through my clothes. Mental thoughts like thought bubbles above their heads! I always relish and lap those people up like a kitten with milk. I'VE GOT THIS!!

Ok I signed up! What do I do now?! I posted my first photo listing and video. And I sat there. And sat there. Nothing sold. As I sat there I looked through other sellers' profiles, torturing myself and thought "damn, you only thought you were pretty enough for this.." EVERYONE else was so gorgeous, confident in their bodies and all around BEAUTIFUL!

Then there came the self-doubt and the second guessing. "I mean I think I look good with my clothes ON! There is no way I look like THAT with them off! I mean let's face it I wear a bra to hold things in place! No one wants to see huge tits that sag because they are too heavy!

No one wants to see my "white tiger stripes" from my skin stretching to become this woman I am now! What are you even doing here? Are you really pretty enough? I certainly don't look like that! I mean, were people just trying to be nice when they tell me how pretty I am? Maybe they were fishing for a compliment back? (Which I always gave/give because I am your cheerleader! I will cheer for you when you won't cheer for yourself!) Maybe those thought bubbles above other people's heads didn't contain the words I THOUGHT they did.

How are they comfortable enough to do that for anyone to buy and see? Would I ever be able to get enough guts to actually do things like that?" The self-doubt was endless. I was torturing myself but I loved to look through those profiles and root for these sellers that seemed to have it all!!

My inbox didn't immediately blow up I had to figure out how to get people to talk to me. It was a lot of trial and error. And believe me, there was and still is a lot of error.

I had an inbox full of people before too long and even though they had many great reviews from other sellers about "prompt payment, knew what they wanted" they were trying to come to ME for "freebies." And there it came. The self-doubt again. "Why can they buy from others and try to get something from me for free?" "Why am I not worth their money but I am worth a couple of sentences typed on a screen?" "What do other sellers have that I don't?"

Finally, all of a sudden a very kind buyer took a chance on me and became my first sale!! I was elated! MY VERY FIRST SALE! Then he came back for a second order later that week!! You couldn't tell me nothing!! I really was so very grateful for him!! He was so kind and gentle. They say you never forget your first and I haven't... And I never will!! I will forever be grateful to him.

Then as I sat there relishing in this ONE buyer, I figured it all out. No one was better than me. Yes, they were probably more seasoned than I was but not better. Why am I comparing myself to others and bringing myself down when we are all different and beautiful in our own ways? What may be considered sexy to one person may not be sexy to another. They will let you know that too. Usually by either blowing up your inbox with compliments, a one-sided conversation or one that just fades out. You may get lucky with the ones that are gracious enough to tell you they aren't interested. (I love those people by the way!)

Bottom line is ALL of the sellers here are beautiful. ALL of the buyers here are beautiful. Do not compare yourself to others. You are unique. You are you. You have something that no one else does! You have that one thing that a certain buyer wants! And buyers do know exactly what they want.

.So adapt unless it's on your NO-NO list, but don't compromise. Be yourself and be unapologetic about it!

Remember this site is a roller coaster. You have to be prepared for the dips, plunges, turns, twists, and thrills! If you don't psych yourself up for it then you may not ride the ride! Just know that I love you all! You are beautiful, each one of you! If you need me I am here! I hope if I need you you will be there too!

Much Love,
